I've been a fan of Aimee Ray's for a long time. I only own a handful of embroidery books - and Aimee's are in the collection. I was thrilled when she agreed to contribute a design to my book. Look how cute it was!
A lot of embroidery books are pretty traditional and/or fussy. But not Doodle Stitching! You know it's different just from the title. And the cover shows a sketchbook full of loose doodles, with a project where those doodles have been stitched. That's my kind of embroidery book! Cute critters, loopy swirls, funky flowers - all relaxed and fun. The projects are cute (My favorite? These stitched sneakers!). . .
. . . but what I really love are the designs. My only complaint about the book was that I wished there were more designs. And look what she did - she released a follow up book with over 400 motifs for easy stitching. Doodle Stitching: The Motif Collection. Awesome!
But wait - it gets better! For the next four weeks she's hosting a Doodle Stitch Along - giving away a free pattern every week and then showing you how to sew them all together into a mini-quilt. Most of her designs are perfect for simple outline stitching, so this will be a great opportunity to practice all the stitches I'll be teaching you in the next few weeks. So go play with her!
Happy stitching!

Thank you for linking this post up with your latest post. I just purchased both books. They should be here within 2 wks. So excited :D
