If you make softies or pillows - or anything else that requires stuffing - you'll need to sew up the opening by hand. I teach two basic methods for doing that - the easy way and the invisible way. This is the easy way. I've taught it to 5 and 6 year-olds and they do a great job with it. I recommend it for beginners of all ages.
For those of you eager to try out the invisible way - just hold tight. I'll be posting a video for that in a couple of weeks.
Video here.
Thank you!
ReplyDeleteAwesome! Poking through at the end to leave the tail of the thread in the pillow! OMG! That is fantastic!!! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome! And that trick with the tail is one of my favorites. :-)
ReplyDeleteGreat post. I've been sewing for ages but never thought about hiding the tail like that. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI'm an occasional sewer and the tips about hiding the tails were forehead smacking moments for me! Thank you!!
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone! The hiding the tail trick is common in quilting - it's funny sometimes how little crossover there is between different sewing groups!
ReplyDeleteHoly cow. You're awesome. Thank you so much for making it look so simple. This was the final touch I needed for my project. Please keep doing what you do!
ReplyDeleteThank you for starting this sewing 101. I have been sewing sice 3rd grade (53 now) and always find new things to learn. I appreciate you!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much! :-)
