This funny little raincloud was inspired by all the kawaii cuteness I saw in Japan - and my daughter's current obsession with rainbows. She has her closet arranged in rainbow order!
What you'll get:
regular pattern (finished image is approximately 6 1/2 x 6 1/2 inches)
reversed pattern
complete color and stitch guide
Materials you'll need:
fabric for embroidering
your favorite tools for transferring the embroidery pattern
embroidery hoop
embroidery needle
embroidery thread
Skills you'll need:
how to transfer an embroidery pattern
running stitch
As with any embroidery pattern - you get to decide what stitches and colors you want to use. I designed this pattern especially for beginners who are just starting out with the running stitch - but that doesn't mean you have to use the running stitch. Make the drops more drop-like by using a lazy daisy stitch. That would be lovely! Change the smiling face to a grumpy face and have it rain dark grey drops. Fun! Change the streaks of rain to rows of French knots. Fancy! Fill in the cloud with swirls of puffy white. It's totally up to you!
If you want to copy exactly what you see in the image above - that's what the stitch and color guide is for.

When you're done - please share your creations! I've set up a Shiny Happy Embroidery School group on Flickr so everyone has a place to show off a bit. I can't wait to see what you make!
Happy stitching!

I think this is such a great idea! I've only learned to sew by kinda making things up as I go along...it will be so awesome to learn how to use my supplies - and to sew - correctly. Maybe my projects will start turning out better? Recognizable? Actually complete?? lol Thank you for all the work you're doing - it's amazing! xx
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the nice comment! I'm self-taught too - maybe one of these days I'll share some of my more entertaining early projects.:-)
