Wow! Thanks so much for the terrific response to my question about the pendant designs! It's absolutely fascinating to watch the results come in. Right from the beginning there were four clear favorites in every category - and those favorites held as the weekend went on.
For the most part I'm able to watch something like this with a certain amount of detachment. By this point, I like all of the designs and I just want to see which ones you all like the most. It didn't bother me at all that the Queen Anne's lace wasn't getting many votes - heck, I was HAPPY that the choice of which four to put in the collection was so clear!
Except when it came to the lady you see up at the top of this post. For the longest time she didn't get a single vote and I was getting really distressed on her behalf. Now - I was the kind of kid who made sure to give all my stuffed animals their share of snuggle time. I really, really worried that some of them might feel left out or unloved. I thought I had outgrown that, but clearly some measure of it has stuck with me. :-) I found myself hoping every time I checked my email that someone would love her. Maybe because she's a person and not a flower or geometric design? Finally. . . on Sunday morning she got her first vote. Yay! I even wrote to the person (Jeanne) and thanked her. And Jeanne wrote back and told me that #6 was actually her favorite and she had even named her - Queenella. My heart melted!
Two more people voted for Queenella after Jeanne. It's clear to me that there's no way she'll make the cut, but for Jeanne (and anyone else out there who loves her) here's a free Queenella download. I haven't stitched up a sample so there's no stitch or color guide - but the pattern is regular and reversed in 3 different sizes - one that will fit on a pendant, one larger for something like a iPhone cozy, and one even larger that I'm going to put on a T-shirt. I drew her tiny - so the lines on the larger images will be blurry, but still clear enough to trace.
I know she's not for everyone - but for a few people she's just the right one. I hope you love her!
I'll keep taking comments on the rest of the designs until tomorrow morning and I'll start showing stitched samples of the finalists later this week. All the kit components are on order and I hope to have kits in the shop by the middle of the month. Thanks again for your fabulous feedback! You all are awesome!
Best,
Wendi
Too funny. Here's to Queenella!
ReplyDeleteOh, my gosh, you sound like me when I was little. Feeling sorry for or empathizing with inanimate creatures. Did it, do it still. You certainly wouldn't want some poor little orphan pattern roaming about. Even though she wasn't in my "favorites" list, now I have a real soft spot for little Queenella! Long live the queen!

I did the same for my stuffed animals! I had tons of them, and I was so careful not to let them know who my favorites were. I would tell Queenella that she, out of ALL the other designs, has been named, and that is a very very big deal!
ReplyDeleteYou guys are so sweet! I love knowing that you all felt the same way about your stuffed friends!
