You know how you guys love it when I leave my mistakes in my videos? Like when I draw a stitch too tight and show you how to loosen it? Or burn myself on the steam from the iron? Or stab myself with a pin? Well this time I left in a doozy.
The whole point of the video is to show you how to use awesome microbeads without making an unholy mess - and the very first thing I did was pick up the bag without first pinching the opening closed. Stuffing went flying - and I decided to leave it in because we all do things like that. Don't we? Please tell me we do. :-)
I also left it in because it's just not that big of a deal. Yes - the stuff can make a mess. But it's really not that hard to clean up. In 10 minutes I had sewn up the stuffing opening, taken the softie outside and whacked most of the pellets off, got the last stray pellets with a bit of masking tape, and vacuumed off my table. It was easier to clean up than glitter. And actually, in many ways, even easier than regular fiberfill. I usually stuff softies while sitting on the couch and manage to get stray strands all over myself - requiring laundry and/or tape to remove it.
So. Messy? Yes. But easy to clean up. And totally awesome in its delightful squishiness. There's nothing quite like it for making an extra-huggable softie. So - watch and enjoy. And then give it a try on your next softie project. :-)
Best,
Wendi
