Embroidery Pattern: Comics ABC

$5.00

It's really handy to have a few different alphabets to work with - so here's a comics-style alphabet for you (including the necessary symbols for when you need to be. . . emphatic) along with a few different speech bubbles. The letters are just a smidge over 1/2 inch tall and you can, of course, easily resize them to fit your needs.

I show this in use, comic book style, but you can use the alphabet without the speech bubbles too. The simple lines of the letters lend themselves to some fancy outline stitching. Why don't you try a threaded backstitch? Maybe with a metallic thread for the fancy part of the stitch?

Stitch your favorite expression on a T-shirt or pillow. Make a quilt with a different bubble in every block. Pair it with other patterns - stitch one on the free mini tote, make one of the Rainbow Girls tell everyone what's on her mind, pair one with one of these monsters. Where else do you have something to say? Say it with embroidery!

What you get:
  • regular pattern (including complete alphabet, symbols, and three speech bubbles)
  • reversed pattern
  • complete color and stitch guide
Materials you'll need:
  • fabric for embroidering
  • scraps of fabric and fusible adhesive for applique (optional)
  • embroidery needle, thread, and hoop
Skills you'll need: (pattern has links to free video tutorials)
Time you'll need:
  • an hour or two for one speech bubble with words
$5.00

When you're done - please share your creations at the Shiny Happy Embroidery School group on Flickr!

Happy stitching! And have a great weekend!

Best,
Wendi
