It's Day 6 of our 12 Days of Christmas series and today the spotlight is on your stitchy friends. Or friends who want to be stitchy. :-)
For a friend who's just getting started - I recommend the Super Stitch Kit. It has everything they'll need to start stitching right away - a blank tea towel, a hoop, a bundle of coordinated thread, pins, needles, nice sharp scissors, and a travel tin to keep the pointy things in. And the pattern of their choice! You can find it here - but there's only ONE left in the shop and I won't have them in stock again until January.
For beginning AND experienced stitchers, I recommend the Big Thread Bundle. It has a hand-picked selection of colors chosen because they look good together - dark, medium and light shades of every color in the rainbow, plus a nice array of neutrals. Today and this weekend only - I'll throw in a pack of Floss-a-Way bags with every Big Thread Bundle purchased.
This is the product I use to store my thread and it works great. There are 36 bags in the pack and 24 skeins of thread in the Big Thread Bundle - so you'll have some extra bags to use for any additional favorite colors you want to add to your palette.
And finally - in addition to some useful supplies - I'd like to recommend this gorgeous book. It's out of print now but you can find several used copies here. You can read my review here (and take a look at some of the lovely art). Here I'll just say it's an utterly inspirational book for anyone even remotely interested in embroidery.
One more quick reminder - there's just one Super Stitch Kit left in stock, and only 5 of the Big Thread Bundles. Once they're gone they will be gone until at least the middle of January. Get them now and make a stitchy friend happy. :-)
Happy Friday! And have a great weekend!
Best,
Wendi
Well I fell in love with that book! I just ordered myself a copy and I can hardly wait until it gets here. I might even start embroidering in pockets. ;)
ReplyDeletePockets is the most beautiful book. I ordered it after reading your review of it and I love it. The illustrations are divine and the story is lovely too.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for letting us know about this book, it is certainly being added to the favourite list in my house.
From your review of Pockets, I ordered myself a copy. Then, upon arrival, decided that it was too gorgeous to keep just to myself... but also too gorgeous to give away! SO I ordered another copy to give a friend for Christmas, along with another sewn present. Excited!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you all love that book as much as I do. It IS too good not to share. :-)
