Ok - so one day in to the new year I don't have much to report. :-) But I did gather up my pattern drafting tools. The only one I needed to buy was that funny curved ruler. It's the Dritz Styling Design Ruler. If you want to get the same one you can find it here, but there are other brands too. You want one that has a French curve, a hip curve, and a straight edge.
I'll be checking in every Monday with updates on my 2012 New Year's resolutions and I'd love to have you all join me. How are you doing so far? :-)
Happy New Year!
Best,
Wendi
So far I'm still in thinking about it mode ;)
ReplyDeleteDid finish knitting a little scarf last night and my Living room curtains are ready to be stitched up.
Hi
ReplyDeleteI was thinking about your pattern drafting ruler and wondered if you had come across this system. It is a fantastic way to make clothes and I love mine - although it is very expensive at the start, you basically never need buy another pattern ever!

Becky - you'll have to post a link to pictures so we can all admire :-)
ReplyDeleteMhairi - I've heard of that system before but never met anyone who actually used it - and was reluctant to invest the money without a first-hand review. Since I mostly wear T-shirts and jeans I don't know if I'll end up making enough clothes for myself to make it worth it. I guess this year will be the test of that! :-)
I don't really have resolutions so much as challenges I want to tackle this year. One of them is to make use of my Christmas present 9a sewing machine) and make my first quilt. So far I've picked a pattern and some fabric. I just need a few more tools, my fabric to be shipped, and to learn how to use my machine. On that note, thank you so much for your videos. I started watching them on the weekend and I'm already less scared of sewing.
ReplyDeleteI hope you'll share photos of your quilt in progress!
