I've been traveling and sick with a cold that I can't seem to shake, so I haven't been able to get much done on my new year's resolutions, but I did manage to tackle one project from the UFO basket.
My daughter spotted this gorgeous ribbon in one of my trim bins ages ago and asked me to make her a belt out of it. I already had D-rings that were the right size - I have no idea why. This should have been a five-minute project. Why did it take me months to get to it? I have no idea.
Seriously. Five minutes.

Happy Monday!

For me, making is the easiest and least of my effort. It's the staging that takes time and space. I liken this phenomenon to sending a rocket into outer space. It takes a tremendous amount of fuel and energy to overcome gravity(the stuff in your way) and once in orbit(creative and productive flow) it takes very little energy and time flies (as they say.)
ReplyDeleteWhen I'm not using my wheel, it, being a horizontal surface, gets covered in whatever. So the simple act of make a cup, which usually takes a couple of minutes to throw, can be like sending staging the space shuttle.
But once I've cleared the decks I'm unstoppable.
I hope you feel better.
I hear you! I have a nice big work area (4 ft x 8 ft) but I let so much stuff pile up on it that I routinely find myself working on a space less than 2 ft square. It takes ages to clear it all away - but then I'm so productive! At least until I let it pile up again. . .
DeleteI tried to include this in my comment but had somehow had trouble.
ReplyDeleteI've also made an unofficial resolution (the unofficial ones seem to be kept the best with me!) to finish projects, or at least it's a goal to finish more before I go spend any more money at the fabric store. I re-hemmed my husband's scout pants (in a non-contrasting color this time, my bad), made a reusable shopping bag for my sister in law, and did some repairs (a pair of pants, doll hair, and a dragon wing reattachment). So far so good!
ReplyDeleteI've also been working on working through my stash. I'm not allowing myself to buy any new fabric until I can fit what I have in the space designated for it - with no overflow!
