More Progress on the UFO Piles

I've almost emptied out the smallest of my UFO baskets. :-) This weekend I took four of my husband's old T-shirts and remade them into nightgowns for my daughter.

So comfy and soft. :-) This pattern will be coming in a few months in the Shirt Off Daddy's Back series.

I've also been tackling my scrap baskets. They're overflowing. I'm working on a scrap quilt and making a dent - but I'm also trying to get rid of some of the teeniest, tiniest bits. I'm sorting through all my scraps. Anything smaller than a 4 inch square is getting cut up into 2 inch squares. And if it's smaller than a 2 inch square I'm throwing it away. Not fun (and crazy hard for me to throw fabric away) but it's been nice getting the overflowing scraps off the floor. :-)

I wonder how long it will take me to have enough for a twin-sized quilt?

Happy Monday!

Best,
Wendi

  1. Ack! I can't throw away fabric either.

Here's an idea for those teeny scraps.

Line a (clean - duh) trash can with a pillow case made of a soft fabric. I use flannel.

Throw the bits and bobs in either all at once or as you accumulate the scraps.

When it's full, stitch up the opening and you have a pet bed, a floor pillow, a travel pillow - whatever.

  2. Maybe instead of throwing the tiny scraps away, you could package (quart and/or gallon baggies stuffed full) the for fabric artists who use tiny pieces (for things like confetti quilts). I'd buy some if the price was good... and if the alternative is throwing them out, there's no reason for it not to be reasonable.

    1. That's a genius idea! I've barely made a dent in my scrap baskets so I'll have a ton of itty bitty scraps - and I can easily keep them sorted by color because I keep all my scraps sorted that way. I'd be happy to give them away for the cost of shipping!

      Thanks!
