Happy Drawing Too! A New Quilt
I made a new Buttonholes Quilt! This one uses the brand spankin' new Ed Emberley collection - Happy Drawing Too! I love, love, love how it turned out!
I was only able to snatch a couple of photos before the rain hit - and then I had to ship it away because It's Going To Be At Quilt Market! I wish I was going to be at Quilt Market - but a few hefty (and unanticipated) dentist bills derailed that plan. At least my quilt will be there. :-) Look for it at the Cloud9 booth if you're there. And look at all the other great fabric in that booth too - she's got some incredible collections debuting this fall!
But back to this quilt. I made it up in the napping size so I would use all the new fabrics in the collection - plus the frogs from the last collection - a favorite of mine.
I love how some of the buttonholes pop against the blue background, while others tend to blend it. It makes the overall composition really interesting.
Want to make your own? The fabric is available NOW. Yes, now! Here's what you'll need. . .
The Buttonholes Quilt pattern (of course).
One fat quarter of each new fabric, plus one more. It looks like Hawthorne Threads has all the new fabrics in stock, and Pink Chalk Fabrics has most of them.
2 1/4 yards background fabric - I think this is a Kona solid in royal blue
1/2 yard for the binding - I used the blue scribbles
3 1/4 yard fabric for backing - I used the orange scribbles plus scraps from the fat quarters
You'll need a twin-sized batting too, as well as a couple of spools of thread.
This is a super easy pattern - I designed it especially for beginners! (Clink on the link for a full description of what makes it so easy.)
Ready? Go make one!
Happy Monday! Happy Quilting! And Happy Drawing, Too! :-)
Best,
Wendi
