New Pattern! Franklin the Fat Cat

Woo hoo! New pattern in the shop!

Meet Franklin. He's very huggable. :-)

He's also pretty big - 9 1/2 inches tall (not counting his ears) and 8 1/2 inches wide (not counting his arms). Jo confirms that this is an excellent size for cuddling. :-)

I made him out of polar fleece for extra softness (and ease of construction) and included a couple of tips in the pattern for working with fleece. It's soft and cuddly, inexpensive, and available in a HUGE variety of colors and patterns. What's not to like?

The guy on the cover has an embroidered face - good for babies. It's also small and squished in - to emphasize his fatness. :-)

Jo also requested a larger face - mostly so we could use these gorgeous safety eyes. Here's what that face looks like.

I included both faces in the pattern so you can choose whichever you like best. And if you're looking for safety eyes like these, my favorite source is 6060 on Etsy. (Just so you know - safety eyes aren't safe for babies. But they are super easy to use. They should call them easy eyes.)

Here's the complete view of the grey guy - so you can see the face in proportion to the body.

Franklin will take a couple of hours to make and uses 1/3 yard fleece. Get your pattern here and make a huggable fat cat this weekend. I can't wait to see your finished work on this one - please send photos or post them in the Flickr group. I want to see a whole clowder of cats! :-)

Happy sewing everyone! Have a great weekend!

Best,
Wendi
