Embroidered Pendants - DIY Kits in the Shop

The kits are ready! Each kit has everything you need to make two necklaces. They're in the shop now.

Here's what you'll get:
  • 2 easy-open, easy-close pendant frames
  • 4 pieces of microscope-quality glass
  • 2 black satin necklace cords with lobster clasps and chain to adjust length from 16-18"
  • 2 split rings to make your pendant hang nicely
  • 1 PDF pattern of your choice for four pendant designs
All for $15. It all comes in a jewelry box that you can use as a package for one of the finished necklaces. Keep the other necklace for yourself. :-)

Finished pendants are 1 inch wide and 3 inches tall. Choose from shiny silver, antique brass, or weathered black finish on the frames.

Choose from three different sets of pendant patterns. Yes - you get a pattern with your kit purchase. :-)

I'll send the link to download the PDF of the pattern as soon as possible after I receive your order. Start stitching your pendants while the framing parts are in the mail! Of course, you can also order just the patterns and source the framing and jewelry materials yourself. Click on the pictures to go straight to the pattern listings in the shop.

One tip. If I'm going to frame an embroidered piece I usually stretch it around a piece of cardboard so it lies smooth beneath the glass. You can't do that with these - there's not enough room for a piece of cardboard between the glass pieces. The solution (once I came up with it) was astoundingly simple. Starch! I just used heavy spray starch (available at the grocery store) on the fabric before I stitched it. It held its shape nicely AND made it very easy to trace the design onto the fabric without the pencil dragging or stretching things. I believe starch might be my new best embroidery friend!

Each of these pendants takes less than an hour to stitch up and they're really easy to pop into the frames - no tools needed. You have plenty of time to whip some up for holiday gifts. Ready? Go! Click here to purchase a kit.

Happy stitching!

Best,
Wendi

  1. That's a really neat idea. I like the geometric ones most.
