Last week we wrapped up the last blocks in the Safari Quilt series. This week we've got the last two patterns in the Shirt Off Daddy's Back series. Two aprons - terrific for gift-giving!
I designed two apron patterns - one using the front of a men's button-down shirt, and the other using the back. If you use a long-sleeved shirt you might have enough fabric in one shirt to make both - a matching set! Or you could use fabric from another shirt (or your stash) to make all the ties.
I think of the half apron as the Easier Than the Easy Apron. The construction is pretty much the same as The Easy Apron - but since it's made from a shirt you get a ready-made fancy curved hem and you don't have to make the pocket. That's already done for you! In the pattern and companion video you'll learn how to draft the pattern to fit your kid (or you!) and how to cut it out while making the most of the finish work that's already done for you in the shirt. Nice!
The Full Apron takes a bit more work - but it still takes less than 2 hours and I really love it. In the pattern and companion video you'll learn how to draft a pattern to fit kids or grown-ups. Find a shirt with a back pleat on it - that little detail makes all the difference in the world to the look of this apron when it's finished.
You can get the half apron pattern here, and the full apron pattern here. Or you can get the whole Shirt Off Daddy's Back series here.
6 skirt patterns, 4 dress (or shirt) patterns, and these two aprons - all made from Daddy's (or thrift store) T-shirts and button-down shirts. You can make a whole wardrobe from these patterns - if she doesn't like to wear pants. :-)
If you're already signed up for The Shirt Off Daddy's Back series - don't buy these! They'll come to you automatically. And if you want to make them for the holidays - no worries. Now that I've released all the patterns in the series, I'll be sending you a special master email with links to all the patterns and videos. Look for that early next week.
One more picture - just because I love this photo of Jo in the hay field. :-)
Have a great weekend everyone! Happy sewing!
Best,
Wendi
