2012 Resolutions - I Made an Amigurumi!

I did it! I made an amigurumi! And it was So Much Fun!

I used the free tutorial here and it was really easy - except for the loop that you start with. I wrestled with that one step for more than an hour before I gave up and fudged with something I'm quite sure was wrong but kind of worked anyway. I've decided I'm ok with that. :-)

He's about the most basic shape you can make and his mouth is way crooked (I know I always draw crooked mouths, but I think this one is too crooked) and I'm already planning the next one. Now that I see the basics of how you do the shaping I think these would be fun to play with, just improvising. And since I just want to make blobby little monsters, there is no right or wrong. Right?

I've been pretty pleased with myself for all the work I've been doing on my UFO piles, but I'm so glad I did this this weekend instead. It was pure fun!

How are your 2012 resolutions coming along? Has anyone else been doing something just for fun?

Happy Monday!

Best,
Wendi

    Congratulations!

I looked at the link, and the loop they show at the beginning is also known as a "Magic Ring" or "Adjustable Magic Loop", etc. Here is my favorite tutorial of it:

Thank you for your lovely site, I have learned so much!

    1. Thanks Katie Anne! After my failure with the starting loop I started searching around for other tutorials that showed that step in more detail, but I hadn't found this one yet. You're right! It's terrific! Thanks so much! If I have time tonight I'm going to try another. . . :-)
