Yesterday was a gorgeous Easter day. We go to Penland every year for the egg hunt. All the eggs are handcrafted - and really beautiful. This was my favorite of the year. . .
That's a wooden egg. The stars and dots are carved into the surface and then painted - really beautiful. Alas - I didn't get it.
The rules of the hunt are that you can only take one. If you find one egg you can keep looking, but if you find another you want to keep, you have to rehide the first one. Everyone who comes to the hunt brings an egg - and a dish for the potluck. We lay all the eggs out and admire them for a while. Then while everyone's eating, some of the Penland staff hide the eggs. After brunch there's an Easter bonnet parade and contest - and then the mad dash for the eggs begins. I also loved this one. . .
That is a hand blown glass yo-yo egg. Awesome, no? Alas, I didn't get it either. I didn't find any eggs, but that's ok. It was still a fun day.
We came home and worked on a new (larger) enclosure for our chickens - but I felt worse and worse as the day went on. The cold that I thought had gone away came back with a vengeance - and this morning I woke up with my eyes glued shut. Gross! Pinkeye! My videotaping plans for today have been replaced with plans for napping and maybe a little quilting on my new quilt.
I hope you all had a terrific weekend and have a great week!
Don't forget - today's the last day for the sale on embroidery patterns! Details are in the big red box at the top of the page. :-)
Best,
Wendi
That sounds like such a great event! We don't have anything that artsy here. What did the egg you brought to the hunt look like?
ReplyDeleteI brought the embroidered egg that I showed here. http://wendigratz.blogspot.com/2012/03/free-pattern-embroidered-felt-easter.html
ReplyDeleteSome years I see who got mine - but not this year.
It seems like if everybody brings one, everybody should go home with one, no?
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't sound like pink eye so much as the cold just settled there. We deal with this with my middle child (less so now than when he was younger). If you are open to homeopathic remedies and/or can find them where you live, euphrasia is the goopy-eye remedy. :)
