Quilting Like Crazy

I've been doing a LOT of piecing lately and I thought I'd show you what's going on.

I finished the Happy Drawing quilt top last night and I'm really happy with how it turned out. Here's a close-up of one of my favorite fabric combos - the alligators and the black scribbles.

I still don't know how I'm going to quilt it, so I'll be pondering that over the next few days while I work on other projects. I might have the pattern for this finished by next Friday. *fingers crossed*

I've got three scrap quilts in progress right now and I'm working my way systematically through my scrap baskets trying to get them to a non-overflowing state. I'm on the red basket right now.

First I cut strips for another stripey scrappy quilt like this one.

Any scraps not big enough for that become squares for a scrappy version of the Buttonholes Quilt. I made these pink blocks this weekend.

Anything too small for that gets cut up into tiny squares for this quilt.

And anything too small for that is going into my newest quilt - a Scrappy Diamond quilt. I'm playing along with this quiltalong that Daisy Janie is hosting.

This weekend I made a couple of diamonds in brick red. . .

. . . a bunch of pinks. . .

. . . and one lone pinky-purple.

These are mostly cottons, but there's a smattering of satin, velvet, corduroy, etc. in there. I like the mix of textures.

Whew! What are you all up to?

Happy stitching!

Best,
Wendi

    1. You could do it with any shape - just look at the clear acrylic rulers they have at the fabric store and choose one. :-)

I love your crocs, that fabric range is fab!Your dedication to using your scraps is something else.I save my scraps and they dont really have a purpose but I think I may just have found a few ideas.Alas, they will have to wait a little longer as I am in the middle of making a Tova top and a new batch of gnomes.

    1. Thanks so much! I can't wait to finish my Ed Emberley quilt. It's going to go over the back of my desk chair so I can use it as a lap quilt on chilly mornings.

  4. Very pretty! I don't have enough scraps for this yet. I however, do have a lot of receiving blankets left from when my children used them. I don't want to just give them away. I'd love to make them into quilts, or if there is not enough pillow shams for the three littles. Just not sure how to do this. Is there anything on your site, or personal tips you could share with me to get started?

    1. Scrap quilts are a great way to "keep" your kids old treasures. Depending on the pattern you could get away with relatively few scraps - and just buy some fabric for the sashing and bit that help pull all those scraps together. As I was piecing the Ed Emberley quilt I was thinking that it would be a great one to use for that purpose - so I'll have more on that later.
