Here's the newest pattern in The Shirt Off Daddy's Back series.
A typical A-line dress has a back opening with a zipper or some other closure. We skip all that work by using the buttons at the front of the shirt as the closure on our dress. We also skip hemming, making pockets, and lots of other details, depending on the shirt you choose.
I get absurdly excited when I find a shirt with a good back pleat. It adds such a nice, unfussy detail to the final dress.
This is a design I've been making for quite a while now. Here's my daughter (she's so little in these photos!) in one of the first ones I made.
I used one of the sleeves to make a little bag for her to carry a softie around. Some things never change. :-)

Happy sewing! And have a great weekend!

I tell you, if I had a little girl, I would be cranking these out. Very cute but not cutesy.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much! That's exactly what I love about this pattern. And I've lost track of how many I've made. :-)
