I Heart Spoonflower
I've been working on fabric design lately. Lots of lots of fabric design. Those of you who follow along on Facebook have seen some of the designs as I've finished them. I recently got sample swatches in the mail and - let me tell you - it is awesome holding fabric that I designed. I can't wait to actually make stuff with it! I'll photograph the swatches today and share them later this week, but today I wanted to show you this beautiful tool.
I'm ordering my fabric through Spoonflower. The quality is terrific, the website is easy to navigate, and they're right here in North Carolina - which I love. Before I got started designing I ordered this Color Map. It's almost 1500 squares of lovely color, marked with the hexadecimals codes that correspond to those colors. It allows me to see exactly what a color will look like when it's printed - especially valuable because the colors on your monitor are not accurate. All that is extremely useful and wonderful - and it's also very, very pretty! As soon as I opened the package I fell in love with it and immediately decided to hang it on my wall. I added a quick sleeve to the top and hung it on a curtain/quilt rod that I happened to have propped behind my ironing board - and voila! A rainbow of useful prettiness is hanging on my wall where I see it every day.
Happy Monday! Have a wonderful week everyone!
Best,
Wendi
I too love the Spoonflower. Just found out their offices are just 20-25 minutes away in the Research Triangle Park!
ReplyDeleteThey offer tours of the facilities. If I'm ever on that side of the state I'm totally going to go. :-)
