New! Rugged Rhino Applique Pattern

One more new pattern this week - meet the Rugged Rhino. Yes - I'm hustling to finish all the Safari quilt blocks. I know some of you are making this for a holiday gift! The last three blocks will be done by the end of next week.

This rhino is another block that will use the new pointy applique technique I showed you in this video. This time you have three points to work with - that horn and the tips of his ears. Don't worry - all the pieces are nice and big so they'll be easy to do.

And now that we're close to being finished I thought I'd show you an updated peek at what the blocks will look like together. This isn't the final layout - just a temporary one to make everything fit into one chunk. Please ignore the fact that the snake is pointing down - it'll go sideways in the final quilt. :-)

Do you want to join in the Safari Quilt Block of the Month fun? You can get all the info right here. You'll get a new pattern by email every month - and as soon as I finish the last block you'll also get an email linking to all the patterns, so you can power through them at lightning speed if that's more your style. :-)

If you want to make just the rhino you can get his pattern here. The block is 16 inches square - great for one side of a tote bag. Maybe with the lion on the other side? Or reduce the size of the image and applique it on a T-shirt. Or use it for embroidery. Or cut paper collage. I include full size pattern pieces for the 16 inch block, but also a smaller single-page image to make it easier to enlarge or reduce to use anywhere you want. The sky's the limit!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Best,
Wendi
