Rotating Neutron Star - #2 in the Starry Night Quilt
The pattern for star #2 in the Starry Night Block of the Month series is done - it's a rotating neutron star.
This one is just a teeny bit more complicated than the White Dwarf block. The White Dwarf had blue background squares in each corner. In this one those have been replaced with half-square triangles in a pale orange - just a little bit darker than the yellow of the rest of the star.
You'll notice another difference in this block. Look closely at the background fabric. The White Dwarf used all one fabric in the background. This one uses a mix of three different fabrics, all tossed in there at random. There have been a lot of questions about fabric choices (and yardage requirements) for the background fabric. I answer a lot of them here and this post shows the difference "in action."
I like the background all mixed up from different fabrics - plus I want to bust some of my stash - so I'll be using a mix like this for all the rest of my blocks. I did the white dwarf with just one fabric so you can see the difference. Both choices are totally fine - it's all a matter of personal preference.
Want to get it on the star-making action? You'll get an email every month with a new star block pattern - each adding just a bit more complexity. At the end of twelve months you'll be a star-making expert - and you'll have enough blocks to join together into a twin-sized quilt.
There are the two stars we have so far. Sign up here!
Have a great weekend everyone!
Best,
Wendi

ReplyDeleteStay warm!
DeleteAlmost done! Stash busted, too. All the local fab shops are closed, as we are under state decree to stay off the roads "until further notice."
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see some photos!
