Monsters! The Scary Squares Quilt!

I saved the biggest thing in the Monster Horde collection for last - the Scary Squares quilt pattern!

That bit on the cover shows most - but not all of the quilt. I had to crop some off the top and bottom to get a square. Here's the whole, gloriously monstrous twin-sized quilt.

I had SO MUCH FUN making this quilt! I used solids for the backgrounds of all the squares and then raided by stash for all the monsters. There are bits of my daughter's and husband's old clothes in there, along with favorite fabrics I've had for years. I even made a few of the monsters out of the fur I used for the Knuckleheads and Eggheads. Does this guy look familiar?

Everything I worked on in the whole Monster Horde collection came together in some way in this quilt. I want to show you just a few of my favorite blocks. . .

I loved the knotty hair on this little cutie.

The spikes around her head are all flaps so little fingers can play with them. Fun!

The eyebrows on this guy. I have no words - I just love them!

The bird/monster made with the spiky fur. Swoon!

And all the teeth on this guy with the sleepy eyes - I love them!

There are 11 monsters in all with detailed instructions for crib, napping and twin-sized quilts. The twin quilt has 44 blocks total and each block takes 1-2 hours to make. The applique patterns can be easily sized up or down to applique T-shirts, tote bags and more. You can even size them way down and use them for embroidery patterns!

Make one for your little monsters! Get the pattern here.

And remember, if you're buying all the patterns in the Monster Horde collection, use discount code MONSTERHORDE for $5 off the bundle.

Have a great weekend everyone! I've got a little more monster news coming early next week - a contest for you! Here's a hint - gather up your materials and start sewing your monsters now. :-) Stay tuned. . .

Happy sewing!

Best,
Wendi
